This comes from BeenInsane92 over at the rhcp bbs and it also comes from the offical site's fanclub section posted by Blackie
himself:
Just back from LA where I met with our fan club member ticket winners and attended the ESPN Action Sports and Music Awards Show at the Universal
Amphitheatre--had a great time. Also did an interview with VH1 for the upcoming Ultimate Album show which will feature Blood Sugar Sex
Magik. On the personal side I got to spend some time with
Anthony--listening to some of the new songs, visiting him at home with his dog
Buster, having a fun lunch, and a great evening attending with him the grand opening of Jennifer Lopez's new Cuban restaurant in Pasadena joining other celebs including Nicole
Kidman, Ben Afleck, Christain Slater, Dave Navarro and Carmen
Electra, Jay Leno, Brooke Shields, Johnny Depp and Winona
Ryder.
Also got to visit briefly with John and his girl friend
Stella, Chad and Flea backstage at the ESPN shindig. Saw the CD cover
work. The release date is scheduled for June 25 and the title is
"By the Way".
Bill Ryan took some photos of the ESPN gig and fan club get together which I expect Terry will be posting along with this
update.

Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sum 41, Jay-Z Favorites At ESPN Awards
04/16/2002
(4/16/02, 12 p.m. ET) -- The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sum 41, and Jay-Z were among the acts honored at the Second annual ESPN Action Sports & Music Awards at the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles on Saturday
(April 13). The event, to be aired on the cable network Tuesday night
(April 16), celebrates the best in extreme sports and the connection that such athletes have with some of today's rock and hip-hop
music.
The Peppers earned the show's top music honor, the Action Sports & Music Artist Contribution
Award, following in the footsteps of last year's
recipient, Metallica. The group also capped off the night with spirited performances of their
songs, "Parallel Universe" and "Give It
Away."
The appearance came as the band works on the final mixes for its next
album, By The Way. Guitarist John Frusciante tells LAUNCH that it's unusual for the group to play a show during the album-making process but that
"we thought it was a cool event so we decided to do
it."
Frusciante tells LAUNCH that there was a time when skateboarding was more important to him than
guitar. "When I was a little kid I was a skateboarder at Marina Del Rey
(California) Skate Park in like 1978 until they closed in '81, and that's when I started playing guitar and stopped
skateboarding," he recalls. "I would imagine a lot of the emotional rudiments in the feelings of flying that took place in
skateboarding, I probably am trying to emulate those same things with
music."
Sum 41 earned the people's choice award while Jay-Z was deemed skateboarding's musical artist of the
year. Winners in others categories were Outkast (skiing) Slayer
(BMX), Radiohead (snowboarding), Pennywise (motocross), and Jack Johnson
(surfing).
Jay-Z also performed his song "You Don't Know" on the
show, backed by the X-Ecutioners, Korn's Fieldy, Static-X's Wayne
Static, and Limp Bizkit's John Otto. Other performers included the X-Ecutioners with Static-X and
Xzibit, Unwritten Law, and Third Strike.
Several athletes were singled out for their respective
talents, including Mat Hoffman, who grabbed the show's top
honor, the Action Sports Achievement Award.

This article. like the mtv article is being posted on many websites out there with incorrect info stating that the album is now being pushed back to August but as you can clearly see...there is nothing in either articles about
August! There are alot of Peppers fans in a panic now about hearing the news of the album being pushed back but that doesn't look to be the case because there has yet to be a article saying that and the articles that were supposed to say
that...don't!
